2021 COVID-19 Business Support available for lockdown-impacted Queensland businesses

Essential COVID-19 information for Queensland Business 

  • South East Queensland impacted areas: Further easing of restrictions apply from 4pm, Friday 20 August to 4pm, Friday 27 August in local government areas; Brisbane, Gold Coast, Ipswich, Lockyer Valley, Logan, Moreton Bay, Noosa, Redland, Scenic Rim, Somerset and Sunshine Coast. 2021 COVID-19 Business Support Grants for lockdown-impacted businesses in Queensland

Applications for the 2021 COVID-19 Business Support Grants opened at 12pm (midday), 16 August and will close on 16 November 2021.

All eligible businesses who apply for a grant during the 3-month application period will receive funding.

A joint Queensland and Australian Government support package for Queensland businesses has been announced. The package includes support for non-employing sole traders and expands on support for eligible small and medium businesses, and large tourism and hospitality businesses.

Successful applicants will receive the total value of the boosted grants ranging from $10,000 to $30,000 depending on the size of your annual payroll.

 

Note: Applications for non-employing sole traders are not currently open. This application process is currently being finalised and details of how to apply will be released in the coming days.

 

Grants will be available to eligible

  • small and medium businesses; and
  • not for profit organisations, and
  • large tourism and hospitality businesses and
  • not for profit organisations

across Queensland affected by the August 2021 COVID-19 lockdowns.

 

Available funding for COVID-19 lockdown-impacted businesses in Queensland

You may be eligible to receive a grant of between $10,000 and $30,000 (excluding GST) depending on the size of your business. This grant may be used for business expenses.

Under the joint Queensland and Australian Government support package, tiered payments based on payroll size for eligible businesses and not-for-profit organisations across Queensland are available.

These include:

  • $10,000 grant to employing small businesses and not-for-profit organisations with an annual payroll in Queensland of less than $1.3 million
  • $15,000 grant to employing medium sized businesses and not-for-profit organisations with an annual payroll in Queensland between $1.3 million and $10 million
  • $30,000 grant to employing large sized tourism and hospitality focused businesses and not-for-profit organisations with an annual payroll in Queensland of greater than $10 million.

 

2021 COVID-19 Business Support Grants – non-employing sole traders

Under the joint Queensland and Australian Government package, a $1,000 one-off grant to non-employing sole traders across Queensland has been announced.

If you are a Queensland-based non-employing sole trader who has had a decline in turnover of more than 30% due to the South East Queensland lockdown commencing 31 July 2021 or the Cairns and Yarrabah lockdown commencing 8 August 2021, you may be eligible for a one-off $1,000 grant.

 

2021 COVID-19 Business Support Grants for employing businesses - who can apply

Employing Queensland small businesses and not-for-profit organisations

To be eligible, you must:

  • have a turnover of more than $75,000 per annum and have an annual payroll in Queensland of less than $1.3 million
  • have been impacted by the South East Queensland lockdown commencing 31 July 2021 or the Cairns and Yarrabah lockdown commencing 8 August 2021 or any other lockdown in the month of August 2021.

Note: You are not restricted to lockdown areas.

 

Employing Queensland medium sized businesses and not-for-profit organisations

To be eligible, you must:

  • have a turnover of more than $75,000 per annum and have an annual payroll in Queensland of between $1.3 million and $10 million
  • have been impacted by the South East Queensland lockdown commencing 31 July 2021 or the Cairns and Yarrabah lockdown commencing 8 August 2021 or any other lockdown in the month of August 2021.

Note: You are not restricted to lockdown areas.

 

Employing Queensland large tourism and hospitality businesses and not-for-profit organisations

To be eligible, you must:

  • be operating in the tourism and hospitality sector
  • have a turnover of more than $75,000 per annum and have an annual payroll in Queensland of more than $10 million
  • have been impacted by the South East Queensland lockdown commencing 31 July 2021 or the Cairns and Yarrabah lockdown commencing 8 August 2021 or any other lockdown in the month of August 2021.

Note: You are not restricted to lockdown areas.
